Grand Master Hiram and the Word
Presentation by York Rite College No. 15
Monday, April 13 2009
Several members of the York Rite College No. 15 presented the dramatic Masonic play, “Grand Master Hiram and the Word” at Western Springs Lodge on April 13. This play starts out with Hiram Abiff speaking to the audience about the loss of the Master’s Word and the circumstances under which it was lost. The scene changes to the 15 Fellowcrafts discussing whether they should be given the Master’s Word in spite of the fact the Temple is not yet completed. Two opposing points of view are debated. They also surmise what riches, glory and power could come with knowing the Master’s Word. Then Jubela, Jubelo and Jubelum discuss how they plan to obtain the Word. The remaining Fellowcraft, feeling guilty even before the deed is done, share thoughts going to King Solomon early and admitting the Tyrian’s plot. The significance of the Word is discussed between King Solomon, Hiram Abiff, King Hiram and one of the remaining Fellowcraft. This dramatic play makes a cornerstone piece of our Masonic ritual come alive.
